Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 15, 2026

Overview

RecordBoard ("we", "us", or "our") is a meet management platform for track & field coaches, officials, and meet directors. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe. We keep things simple — we do not collect health data, sell your data, or track you across the web.

What we collect

Account information

Name, email address, and password (hashed) when you create an account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from that provider — nothing else. We never see your Apple or Google password. If you choose "Hide My Email" with Sign in with Apple, we receive only the relay address Apple generates for you.

Meet and competition data

Meets, competitions, competitor entries, attempt results, and flight configurations that you enter into the platform. This data belongs to you.

Usage data

Basic analytics such as pages visited and features used, collected to improve the product. We do not fingerprint devices or build advertising profiles.

Payment information

Billing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store full credit card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy governs how payment data is handled.

Mobile app permissions

The RecordBoard iOS app may ask for the following permissions. Each is used only for the feature it's associated with — nothing is collected or transmitted unless you actively use that feature.

  • Bluetooth — to pair and read marks from a laser distance device (Leica DISTO) during throws and jumps. Communication stays between your phone and the device.
  • Camera — to capture photos of paper entry sheets or athletes you're adding to a meet (only when you tap the camera button).
  • Microphone — used only if you start a live audio broadcast from a meet you're directing.
  • Notifications — to alert you when a competition you're following starts, posts a new result, or breaks a record.

What we do not collect

  • Health, medical, or biometric data of any kind
  • Precise GPS location (we may use coarse location for meet discovery with your permission)
  • Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA), device fingerprints, or any data used for cross-app or cross-website tracking
  • Contacts, photos, or files outside of what you explicitly share with RecordBoard

Tracking

RecordBoard does not track you. We do not share your data with data brokers, advertising networks, or analytics services that build profiles across apps and websites. Our in-app analytics are limited to anonymous aggregate usage — never tied to your identity for advertising purposes. Because of this, the iOS app does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt.

How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the RecordBoard platform
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
  • To process payments via Stripe
  • To understand how the product is used and where to improve it
  • To contact you about your account or subscription when necessary

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

Your data ownership

Meet and competition data you create belongs to you. You can export or delete your data at any time by contacting us. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your data for 90 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to export anything you need.

Deleting your account

You can delete your RecordBoard account and all data associated with it from your account settings, or by emailing privacy@recordboard.io with the subject "Delete my account". Deletion removes your profile, authentication tokens, meets, competitions, results, and team rosters from our servers within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate data may be retained for product analytics. We cannot restore an account after deletion.

Children's privacy

RecordBoard is intended for use by coaches, officials, meet directors, and athletes age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Coaches who manage rosters of younger athletes are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate consent before entering athlete data; the data entered is limited to what is necessary to score events (name, team, division, marks). If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to RecordBoard, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data storage and security

Data is stored on servers in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only. No security system is perfect — if you discover a vulnerability, please contact us immediately.

Third-party services

We use a small number of third-party services:

  • AWS Cognito — authentication
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Firebase — push notifications

Each service has its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data needed for each service to function.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@recordboard.io. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
